The Table, my second cookbook, launched with a heartwarming celebration in the scenic Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. Hosted at the beautiful home of my dear friend Laetitia, this book launch was everything I had ever dreamed of—authentic, joyful, and deeply personal.
Under an old stone arch, we set a long Mediterranean-style table adorned with natural linen, a gentle touch of yellow, and overflowing platters of Middle Eastern-inspired dishes from The Table. It was simple, soulful entertaining—exactly how we eat and host in our home. The food was served alongside exquisite wines from Anthonij Rupert Wines, and every dish told a story of spice, heritage, and hospitality.
This wasn’t just an event—it was a true reflection of how I love to gather with friends. The laughter, the flavors, the atmosphere—it brought the pages of the book to life.
When The Table launched in November, I never could have imagined what would follow. The book sold out within two weeks, reached the number one spot on the South African best-seller list, and was crowned Best Mediterranean Cookbook in the World at the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. I am still overwhelmed with gratitude.
None of this would have been possible without my incredible publisher, Penguin Random House South Africa. A heartfelt thank you to Beverley Dodd, who believed in this project and gave me the opportunity to publish with Penguin again. And to Lee, whose stunning photography helped shape the visual story of this book—you helped bring my recipes and lifestyle to life so beautifully. The Table truly is a collaborative masterpiece.
To everyone who bought the book, shared it, cooked from its pages, or sent love my way—thank you. Your support means the world.

My Story and Testimony — From Bloemfontein to the World
My passion for food and hosting began as a little girl in Bloemfontein. Even when there wasn’t a birthday, I would throw parties—complete with balloons, cakes, flowers, and the most beautifully set tables I could imagine. I’ve always loved to spoil people, to make them feel seen and special.
At just 13 years old, I began my first cookery course. From there, I immersed myself in the culinary world—attending cooking classes, working in hotels and guesthouses, and dreaming big. I’ll never forget sitting on the floor of my bedroom, paging through glossy food magazines, longing to one day create those same kinds of images and stories.
And now, to hold my second cookbook in my hands… to see it become a best-seller… and to hear it named Best Mediterranean Cookbook in the World—I’m speechless.
But I know this is not my doing alone. This is God’s grace. It is His favor, His faithfulness, and His hand that has made the impossible, possible. I share this testimony to encourage anyone else who might feel like a dream is out of reach. If God could take a girl from the Free State and place her on the world stage—He can do it for you too.
